Are you interested in Middleware? Go and check our blog!!

Our Middleware presentation is around the corner. To avoid dry out your interests, I would love to provide a little background info on this topic.
Middleware works as "glue" between the operating system and the application. It allows one application interoperate with another software. No programmers need to understand internal process. Isn't that neat?
I found two youtube videos which shows how Middleware works and its use in RFID. Enjoy!

  1. I thought you will present database oriented middleware. Is that the topic you chose? Please refresh my mind. Thanks.

  4. In regards to your video you posted on Progress Systems, was this something you pulled down from the web randomly or do you use their database/middleware software in your business? Curious because our trucking subsidiary does and it is not a stable database platform. It's a throwback to the early '90s RDBMS database solutions when there were 100 companies from which to choose and no true leaders.

    I know this isn't a thought-provoking comment, couldn't help but ask.

  5. I have never used or heard of Progress Systems before Viv posted this blog - I'm also curious to hear her answer :) I wonder if the program is inherently unstable or maybe the subsidiary has it set up incorrectly or modified it in an inappropriate way. What particular problems do they have, David?

  6. Hi David,

I pulled this video fram the web randomly and didn't realize that "it's a throwback to the early '90s RDBMS database solutions when there were 100 companies from which to choose and no true leaders."
The initial intent to upload this video was to give an example that how Middleware eliminates the downtime through a practical experience. Unfortunetely it is not a "quality" example. Can you share your personal experiences with us on this software? Also I am curious how you find out that "It's a throwback to the early '90s RDBMS database solutions when there were 100 companies from which to choose and no true leaders." Thanks!
